Texans want better river levees instead of fence

This article is the perfect example of varying positions, the first position being to build a fence and the other to build better water levees. Building a fence is a hypocritical way of solving the issue because society is conveying they want to stop illegal immigration; however it’s funny that we’re to suppose to be the best nation in the world and building a fence is the best resolution we could come up with? Rebuilding the levees at least sounds more practical. Instead of a fence, we’re now looking at something that seems more environmentally friendly compared to that metal monstrosity on the boarder that actually isn’t fixing anything yet we are paying for it. Building better levees at least at the moment seems like the more sound idea because it will cut down the cost expected to be used in building the fence, giving a better lookout point for monitoring the illegal immigrants and even protecting U.S. citizens from floods caused by levee breaches. Honestly, society as a whole needs to give this issue more thought. Citizens can complain about the circumstances and the resolutions, it’s our job to criticize the decision that are made for us by a small group of individuals however we need to come together and think. It’s hard to grasp that the solutions provided were the only comprehendible ones. When in reality we can fix the problem ourselves by rallying together to resolve that we wont hire any more illegal immigrants. Once society stops provide the source (in this case being jobs) the immigration will decrease by multitudes because the people will have no other reason for immigrating. The government can also approach it from another standpoint if they make greater penalties for those hiring illegal immigrants this would solve the issue because employers would stop hiring these immigrants and their return on investment would decrease. However those in power responsible for providing these jobs are greedy and they want to continue to hire low paid workers who are satisfied with their minimal wage. We can’t come to a resolution if society is not on the same page, so even though bettering the river levees seems like a plausible alternative its really no better than the fence idea just a little cheaper.
